NUC Monitoring Team Lauds LASU For Strengthening Research Output

The Research Monitoring Team from the Research, Innovation and Information Technology Directorate of the National Universities Commission (NUC), has commended the management of Lagos State University for promoting research.

Nte Bisong, team lead of NUC stated this during the exit meeting with Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, Vice Chancellor of LASU.

He especially showered encomiums on the Centre of Excellence for Sargassum Research, which recently emerged as the Best Tertiary Institution at the recently concluded Federal Ministry of Science Technology and Innovation Expo 2023, which took place at Abuja, and urged the university to sustain the efforts in the years ahead.

Commenting on the visit, Bisong stated that the exercise is a new drive by the regulatory Body to promote research among institutions in Nigeria and promised to secure the NUC’s support for LASU.

While receiving the 3 man team, Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, Vice Chancellor expressed her gratitude to the Executive Secretary and the NUC as a whole for their genuine interest in the wellbeing of the university.

She urged the delegation to be objective in their assessment noting that the monitoring exercise is important to help the institution sustain her quality assurance process.

From the meeting, the Monitoring team paid visits to the Directorate of Research Management and Innovation, the Directorate of Linkages, Partnerships and Collaborations, where they were received by the Director, K.A Akinyemi; the African Centre of Excellence do Innovative STEM Education (ACEITSE) under the leadership of Rasheed Sanni, and the Centre of Excellence for Sargassum Research under the leadership of Distinguished Martin Anetekhai.
