Customs Impounds Arms, Drugs at Tin-Can Port


The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Tin-Can Island Area Command, on Friday, said it intercepted a cache of arms, ammunition and illicit drugs imported into the country.

Other seized items include military camouflage and illicit drugs such as colorado, heroin, cocaine and among others.

The arms recovered included automatic single-barrel rifles and pump action guns, among other weapons.

Briefing journalists in Lagos on Friday, Dera Nnadi, the Customs Area Controller of Tin-Can Island Command, said the seizures were made by eagle-eyed officers attached to the command.

Nnadi said some persons arrested in connection with the seizures are still in detention and would be prosecuted accordingly.
