T2 Mobile has reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing the sporting potential of young athletes and providing platforms for them to excel.
The company says it adopted the NCBC basketball team because of their exceptional talent, discipline, and remarkable work rate and intelligence on the ball.
In a thrilling showcase of young talent, the NCBC basketball team, proudly adopted by T2, emerged as champions of the Bosun Tijani Foundation Youth Basketball Tournament, held at Ijeja Stadium, Abeokuta.
The tournament, organised by the Bosun Tijani Foundation in collaboration with the Ogun State Government and supported by multiple sponsors, including T2, brought together 12 top basketball teams from across Nigeria and culminated in a dramatic final.
NCBC advanced through a series of competitive matches, defeating Team Vision 57–13 in the preliminary stage, edging past the Warlords 32–28 in the semi-finals, and overcoming Elevate 43–20 to secure a place in the championship. In the final, they dominated the Ilupjeu Raiders 66–52, claiming the title and showcasing their skill, teamwork, and resilience.
Commenting on the adoption of the team, Seni Ogunkola, vice president, Brands and Communication of T2 said the company adopted NCBC because of their exceptional talent, discipline, and remarkable work rate and intelligence on the ball.
According to Ogunkola, NCBC’s dedication, strategic play, and teamwork demonstrate their potential to inspire youths nationwide, adding that the goal is to nurture these young athletes and provide platforms for them to excel, both on and off the court.
Speaking at the event, Tijani said the tournament was designed to promote youth engagement, positive activities and inclusion. He highlighted Ogun State Government’s support for the tourney and lauded its investment in sports under Governor Dapo Abiodun, creating opportunities for young Nigerians to develop their talents.
The tournament underscored the importance of mentorship, collaboration, and private-sector support in shaping a brighter future for Nigerian youth.
The final of the tournament was witnessed by Adedotun Gbadebo, the Alake of Egbaland; Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy; Lere Olayinka, Chief of Staff to Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun; and Wasiu Isiaka, Commissioner for Sports, Ogun State.
The victorious team was presented with their trophy by the Alake of Egbaland in conjunction with Minister Bosun Tijani, to rapturous acclaim from spectators, marking a memorable culmination to the tournament.
